It was more like an entire fleet of nerdy white and asian kids on a college discussion forum. You would think the people on a college forum would be more cool about it, but this forum is a ton of kids bragging about their GPA's, SAT scores, college admissions, etc.
I just take it in stride, knowing that these people dislike/hate A&F because they probably shop at Wal-Mart and don't have much of a social life.
There were a few people still backing me up, and few others who understood where I was coming from.
I only buy the polos, button down shirts, and a few other things. No graphic tees for me. I find the fit at A&F to be superior to just about anywhere else. I have broad shoulders yet a narrow(er) waist (i.e. I'm fit) and most clothes are too narrow at the top or just have a giant waist. Size small is too small in the shoulders/sleeve length area, and size medium has too much stomach/waist room. A&F small/medium are identical at the waist, and just have variation around the shoulders, so I always have a decent selection to choose from.
Many people complain about being a "walking billboard" for the company, which is true for the graphic tees and such with "Fitch" or "A&F" thrown across the front of the shirt. This is true, but I only buy polo shirts and button downs, which pretty much just have the small moose logo where the traditional Ralph Lauren polo-player is. Not walking billboard at all.
As far as the price goes, it's completely reasonable. The clothes are relatively cheap given the value of the fit and material quality to me. ($60-$70 polo, $80-$90 button down, etc). It's not like it's Neiman-Marcus with their $200 ties and $400 shirts or something. That's expensive. A&F isn't. Sure, it's no walmart, but my clothes actually last more than a week and aren't made of 50% garbage material.
And I've spent like 5 days arguing with like 40+ people about that. It was a "where do you buy your clothes" thread, I was the 10th reply and all I said was "Abercrombie and Fitch" and they just went ballistic. You can read it for yourself .
