I think I'm going insane here.
Tried now for hours to get a B17 to fly straightforward, but somehow I don't get the grip of this yet. Tried dozens of combinations of floaters, engines and their settings, nothing seems to work "golden".
As I do this CSM, things should be easy, but for some reason they aren't...
Can someone explain to me how the floaters work exactly? I tried several values now, but I don't get what each setting does really. Either my aircraft flies in great "waves", it stands stil in the air, does loops or just falls out of the sky...
How do I set the actual height the B17 flies? I thought that would be ObjectTemplate.setHullHeight 70. Or has hullheight to be 0 and the floater to be set at 0/-70/0? Neither worked really good for me. Setting hullheight to 0 results in the object to be completely stationary. Why is that?
Also, what exactly does the setFloatMaxLift do? Why do these settings have to be the same, or how would they be influenced?
My understanding up to now was that HullHeight defines the height above water the object should be kept and FloatMax/Min defines the "push" that is given to the object if it falls below or above the set HullHeight. Apparently I'm wrong. And the MDT gives only VERY poor information in my opinion. Perhaps I just misunderstood due to language difficulties, who knows?
The settings I'd like to have explained:
ObjectTemplate.create FloatingBundle B17Floater
ObjectTemplate.setHullHeight 14
ObjectTemplate.setFloatMaxLift 14
ObjectTemplate.setFloatMinLift 14
Even better would be a example of how things would work (CSM is allowed, so do whatever pleases you)
Also I would be interested in how to get a engine to fire up from zero to topspeed quickly? Don't quite get the grip of the engine settings Min/Max Rotation, Acceleration, MaxSpeed either...I feel dumb now
Oh yeah, and I didn't come up with anything helpful on the search, didn't find anything good for the B17...
