Big thank you. These posts are definetly a keeper.

Thanks for the command lines/shortcuts, finally I can kick BC out ;)

I think you also pointed out the reason why merging didn't work for me in BC, as I had .dds textures.

In your merging command, what does the "1.5 0.6" at the end of the shortcut command stand for?

Will test all this out over the next few days as I revamp my map.

But errors in CTF mode shouldn't cause a problem in Conquest mode, shouldn't they? I only need conquest, everything els is obsolete (and deleted by now. I only have the conquest files left, still to no avail...). I even reverted to "vanilla" skyandsun and Terrain.con as well as to vanilla init.con. No good. This really is confusing now...

Yes, had merged the lgt for Guadalcanal manually too (man, that's time-consuming...) as I wasn't aware of the command for that as well as they need to be tga at that point...can any part of the objectlightmaps or the lightmaps files cause crashes? Like palette.pal, and all the other obscure files found in Textures?

Hmm.....try adding the v_arg1 stuff to Conquest's controlpoints.con file...Perhaps for some weird reason it needs that. I guess the errors I got were a bit different when I had CTDs with my own custom maps.

Incredible. It apparently really was this litte "if" command that caused the crash!

Really, that never would have occured to me. Up to now, every map-edit I made (have done several map redesigns in the past) worked without problems without these commands.
Just bizarre...but well, I guess BF never stops surprising one, not even after years of modding :D .

Really big thank you to you Tankerbot, for taking so much time (and brains ;) ) to work this matter out with (or to be more precise: for) me and giving some very valuable tips. Saved me probably days and weeks of buggering and crashtesting until I'd have stumbled upon that.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and just so I can be the smartass once I want to answer to your rem comment "Also removed unneeded "zeros" from the end of some numbers.Unneeded data just drives me crazy."

Well, if you want to clean up proper, you could also have deleted some additional zeros.
E.g.
0.001 can always be written as .001
BF automatically reads that correctly.
.00xxx is used sometimes in Vanilla, but as usual, the devs weren't consistent in their coding...

No problem at all. Glad to have helped.

lol. Well unneeded zeros I don't like. BUT at the same time, missing zeros also drive me crazy. It just looks weird seeing ".1/.1/.1" as it looks better as "0.1/0.1/0.1". So that's why I didn't delete the zero on the left of the decimal points. :P

It's only cosmetic, so code it how you want. :P
