You're doing it wrong. Stop letting windows try to be nice and auto configure things for you. Remember you are running a SERVER and therefore default good-for-most-people settings are not proper. You need to go from DHCP to a static internal IP, and assign it directly in Windows.

The server works perfect hooked up to the modem...So I'm guessing I need a new router?

The only problem i had was finding the server on the list...I had to add it as a favorite on xfire.

Yes. Like I said forever ago, use the internal IP 127.0.0.1 when connecting to a server on the same computer. Use the internal IP 192.168.[0|1|100].* when connecting to a server inside the same router'd network.

(Yes, I did just use router as a verb.)

I got 4 people in and no one was getting kicked out (On router)

but they were getting connection problems, so they say. Except for one.
