When your first starting to learn how to mod maps, what I found to be helpful is to download a map someone made and use it to practice on.Practice adding, moving, deleting things from it until you can do those things from memory, knowing exactly what files need to be changed to accomplish what you are attempting to do.If you mess it up too bad and it won`t load you can just delete the map and start over with a fresh copy, this way you dont mess up any of your game maps.
Question:
you dont really need to add more than just one modded rfa correct? If 004.rfa is the one you made with the modifications in you can just come back at a later time and add any new modifications that you want to make to the 004.rfa.
example:
Today you add more planes,a month from now you decide to add more tanks.you can just add the tank changes to the 004.rfa that you made a month ago for the planes. correct?
