DOnt import the mips, you dont need them. Just default settings and no mips, then when exporting select the right compressionformat in the list (usually DXT5) and seelct "generate mip map"

no ..what you do is alter the first most largest pic...then each smaller one is exactly half the size of the first one so copy the altered large section, then resize it using photoshop, then paste the copied,1/2 size section that you have altered ontop of the other default sections, shrinking by half each time until you have them all altered one section at a time.

GRRRR man i had to reinstall the game because i deleeted a texture folder by accident lol 8O

i hit th replace file but for some reason it changed the complet folder??

OK man i feel like the biggest NooB lol

i was told to save file as DXT5 and to generate the mip map .Now i did this then i put it back into the proper folder"replacing the old file" that didnt do anything so i used winrfa to PACK the file ,now when i put it in the folder it gives me an ERROR RANGE code??

The half sized images are the mipmaps. For example, a texture can be 512x512 pixels in size. For some systems, this is just too much texture, so they need a smaller. The program will then grab the next mapmap which will be exactly 256x256 in size, which is 4 times smaller (2x2). Thats the exact reason DXT images need to have sizes which are a power of 2 if you want mipmaps (and msot of the time you want em). If you plan to import a image is best not to import the mips so photoshop can make them for you saving you precious time because you dont have to rescale the image so many times.

Not sure about the range error. Try extractignm the entire texture rfa and then repacking, or packing your new texture in a texture_001.rfa file (hoping it works). I guess the file is so big winRFA cant read it anymore?

NEW INFORMATION......

DO NOT USE THE NVIDIA PLUGIN AS IT SEEMS TO MAKE THINGS A LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT FOR A BRGINNER AS IT DOESNT REVEAL THE "SMALLER" SECTIONS OF THE PICS.
UNINSTALL THE NVIDIA DDS TOOLS!!!
PASTE THIS FILE INTO YOUR "ADOBE/PLUGINS/FILE FORMATS" FOLDER..

http://server3.download.filefront.com/g ... _tools.zip

If you follow what I've told you right from the start you'd have no problems...

-Extract Textures RFA to a folder
-locate the texture you wish to alter
-open the file with DDS plugin equipt photoshop
-open the way photoshop wants to open it...DONT CHANGE THE "OPENING" parameters photoshop asks you...SAY YES!
-make the file changes on the largest section of the picture
-copy the altered section(just the section you altered)
-Now open a new photoshop image(it will automatically open a new image the size of the copied section you have
-Paste the section into the new image window
-change that image size to 50%
-now drag and drop the new resized image onto the original sections into the cooresponding sized section
-keep doing the "50%" to the "new image" you are resizing and pasting it onto the sections in the right sized spots until you get them all(or mostly) copied.
It should look like my examples when you are done.
----When you have them finished save it as a DDS file!!! with the default parameters it asks you....DONT CHANGE ANYTHING!
Now name it the same as the original file(if its not already) And overwrite the one in your textures folder.
-Repack using winRFA onto your old textures RFA,overwriting when asked.
That should be it.I can do these graphic changes in no time flat...don't let everyone else confuse you....I don't see any other examples posted.
sry Harry!
