How would I go about renaming a map? Im stumpped right now.
What I know so far:
Rename the main map folder (duh)
In the info folder rename the .desc files to match folder name
Edit the map_name_here.desc and in one of the top lines is the line that makes it appear properly ingame.
What I cant figure out:
How to completely rename the map and keep if from crashing.
Fr sake of example I am trying to rename FuShe_Pass to FuShe_Pass_Fuzz. Reason: Server side mods dont seem to work, but client side is very easy. So in the mean time I want to make renamed versions of the maps and mod them. I know its client side, but I'll take what I can get.
I have tried to go through all the con file and change all references of FuShe_Pass to FuShe_Pass_Fuzz. I think I got them all in the server.zip but I am not sure if there are any in the client.zip. Every time I load up the map it crashes at "objects".
After playing some more:
Clients dont appear to care about zip size. I was able to create my own zip archive for the plane FuShe_Pass. Stock zip size 5.27MB, my size is 13.6MB (no compresson). Im not sure if a client connects what will happen, but for one pc any map compression will work. Also it seems that everything that we could do in BF42 can be done cleitn side in BF2. So far I have addtemplated and removetemplated wepaons (a work around for granting access to new weapons), added nos to the DPV, changed what spawns and spawn times. I haven't played with everything yet, but from the current results look good for client side mods. If only could rename the map that I can keep the the stock FuShe Pass and have my modded map too...
