ok that worked, i guess that patch just changes the bf1942.exe file or one of the mod.dll located in Battlefield folder or one of the XPack Folders.
And because i dont know what changes it made, i dont know if the patch is still installed.

[gripe] The patch installs without a readme coming up or anything, I can't find what has changed. This really makes me mad. They could at least tell us why this new patch is so important. Now I've got the patch on my computer (I was trying to see what "new" changes the were making), and I can't get on my leased BF server to play my modded maps. I'm pretty mad about it right now, and of course there's no place for feedback on EA's pathetically poor "Official BF" site. So, I guess I have to uninstall BF then reinstall it because of their lack of documentation or uninstaller. If I didn't enjoy the game so much, I'd break my cds and throw em in the garbage out of spite. [/gripe] |

Hey HITMAN82, This is the only info I could find on why the patch was released... http://seclists.org/lists/bugtraq/2004/Feb/0624.html I guess it has something to do with the fact that certain characters sent to the game server through the GameSpy port could potentially crash the server. But I am also surprised the EA had no release note on the patch. |

Wow, I read about this, must have been close to a year ago. This was fixed in the linux server version long ago. This was not something that needed to be rushed right out, it's been a problem forever. I still remember the scare from the last time this was mentioned. <shrugs> I sent an email to EA, have a look if you're interested. |

well i installed that patch and what do i get ... oh, my battlefield doesnt load. or any other mod. click the shortcut, then black screen to load for about 1/2 a second, and it crashes, with that annoying error sound. I had a cd crack on my game though (which is legal because i have the game) will it be because of that. Ill try reinstalling the crack |
