if i understand it right its the harddrive thats slows the laptops down most nowadays. a Solid State Disk may do more for the performance than a cpu upgrade |

That is when your words can mean 1 or more different thing. I looked at the man with the binoculars. I could have looked at the man with my own binoculars, or I could have looked at the man who held the binoculars. |

Lenovo is a subcompany of IBM, specialising in High Quality-laptops. I use Lenovo and love them, the big advantage of them is they offer reasonable prices (though still more expensive than all the discounter laptops), but offer absolutely awesome quality. The laptop case is of high quality material, making it very sturdy. The cooling system is quite smart, making it not overheating like cheap laptops who crash all the time when running demanding software or if it's summer . Also, they feature dozens of gimmicks as standard (Trackpoint in addition to touchpad, UMTS access, etc. etc.). also feature good suport. Plus, they have a nice coolness deriving from their simple, yet effective design. Understatement for the win! Can't say much about the current products of Lenovo, my laptop is some years old now, but still does the trick so I'm fine with it. |

The laptops at my school are lenovo's, and they seem to be good quality and I love the trackpoint in the keyboard. I assume this is only because my school is cheap, but they are pitifully slow and have less than 512mb of memory for sure. Also, I swear my 256MB flashdrive holds more than their harddrive does. They also have a celeron processor ( ) and scary short battery life. |

Uhm, that are things that don't say anything about the brand...(almost) every brand offers awful perfomanced but cheap versions of their stuff. Lenovos are nice because they offer special students' prices (at least here in Germany), so if you can prove you are immatriculated to an university you can save quite some bucks. |
