Ok, so I want my XP to look like vista, cause I think it looks alot cooler. Well I downloaded a few theme pack things but there is no way to use them. They don't have a .theme file with them, so they can't be loaded... Any idea what to do? All the reviews say they work so I'm really confused... Yes I have a patched uxtheme.dll so that isn't the problem. Here is one of the ones I'm trying to use: I don't know how to make a .theme file for it, when I try, it still loads the old XP standard theme. |

Nope, don't really care what my XP looks like. I like to keep things clean and functional, the impractibale glossy semitransparent vista look is no improvement for me. And I don't think a SSM-Forum for BF42 is the best place to ask question about XP themes and their usage  Why don't you just ask the question in one of the many Windows Theme communities or google them? |

Eh...This is only forum I'm a member of where anyone might know about computers.... And I don't like the semi transparent one either, I want black EDIT: It seems that my problem is that I have SP3 of XP, in which I guess Microsoft got pissed and made all the .dll patchers not work. This means that only files signed by microsoft will work. Fortunately, I got one that looks alot like vista that was signed by microsoft and then accidentally released. It's a blue, dark blue, or black, unfortunately, black has a ORANGE start button!  Where is the file I could open up to change its color? (mrhowdoimod didn't you try this?)

Now I specificly remember making fun of a user on this site who I thought had vista but it was just a skin then everyone was flaming him for having a my space page open instead of theta photo whatever crap site he can help you find it im sure EDIT: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4126&p=31080&hilit=vista+sucks#p31080 FOUND IT ^^^^^ |

You can open and edit the .theme and .msstyles files with notepad and edit them but it doesn't load the files cause they aren't microsoft signed. I have royale noir installed right now, since I can't stand the zune theme's orange start button, it makes me sick. If it was black also, I would love it. I was just looking for the image file that the start button uses to see if it was changeable. |
