I had the opportunity today, thanks to one of my Best Friends, to hang around with some reenactors of the American Civil War. I spent the day inside the camp, learning the basic structure of how things worked. Half way through the day, and about half an hour before the battle. The Captain who led the group walked up to me whilst I was standing near my friends tent chatting; he didnt hesitate to ask me if I wanted to start reenacting with the group.
Caught by suprise, I hastily said yes, and somehow felt very excited that id get the oppurtunity. The conversation shifted to my money situation, how niether me nor my mom have much money to support such a commitment, but the Captain, whos name I still hadnt learned; offered for me to borrow a unfirom, rifle, and other accoutraments that would be necessary, and offered advice on how to aquire my own equipment.
It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I await my first chance to attempt reenacting with them, and learn such things as Loading In 9 Times, and the many different steps, and drills. I feel very happy to be engaging in what ammounts to a tribute to one of Americas saddest moments, the American Civil War. They are holding a meeting on friday, and hopefully, with some signatures and slight donation, I will formerly be accepted into the 10th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment of reenactors.
