I just had to format my hard drive and re-install everything, and this time when I installed Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 1942 the console won't open in either of the games. I've had this problem once before and I just reinstalled the game again and it worked. Does anyone know why the console won't open, and maybe a way to fix it?

If you start typing a chat message, and hit the ~ key during the chat, does the ~ get entered in your sentence or does nothing happen at all?

Well on BF1942 and BFV you can't change the console button as far as I can tell. It's not in the menu. But today the console opened. I'm not sure what's different today, but I think it has to do with something that's plugged into the computer. I also thought it might have something to do with my Saitek joysticks, because they use a programming software that emulates keyboard presses.

there u solved ur own problem ...

I am sure u programmed a key or macro so its overriding certain keyboard entries.

I use Saitek mysef, when getting out of a plane or chopper from full thrust (afterburner key binding) for bf2 , i hit the floor after touching ground ... hehe

OK, when the console was working, I was at a LAN party and didn't have any stuff plugged into my comp. besides joysticks, mouse, and keyboard. Now when I get back home and plug back in the USB hubs and stuff, it doesn't work. So for anyone else who has this problem... try unplugging things one by one and narrow down the problem.
