this has been touched on but i'd like more detail if any of yall have fact based input? a friend has created a CSM using things from different mods, stuff from like Forgotten Hope, etc. he was wonderring if there would be any copyright issues? he wants to put it on their webpage for public download. its battlefield, he's modded mods basically, but was under the impression it may be illegal? thanks, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! gobble, gobble!!! ![]() |

Has he permission from people he borrowed from? If not, he's in war! ![]() I don't think they will like it one bit. |

If anything, just give credit where credit is due. For my custom pacific theater map, I used a bunch of custom skins. If you look when you download those things, in the readme's the authors will usually say "you are free to use this in your own mod, but please give credit to me". Maybe email all the top dogs from each mod and ask if its ok..? Tell them he will give credit in readme. |

I never have problem with people sharing code from mods, since it's technically owned by EA. However, stealing graphics or textures or models is different and technically whoever made them owns it. Unless of course they put it into a license or something that says it can be freely shared. |
