got bored, started surfin through old posts in here. there seems to be a lot of questions about those five little icons below our posted "handles\names". so, i tried looking around to see if i could find out just exactly how you get from zero (0) to five (5), what the criteria was. is it solely based on posts? i sure hope not. does content of posts play a role? i certainly hope so. then again, im a visitor here, and extremely appreciative and to a degree honored to be a part of this forum. i am in no way "critiqueing" this forums layout either, i like it just fine. when i read a post and see them, the icons, it helps me to get a better understanding of the level of knowledge that person has. personally, i dont know much about modding. matter of fact, everything ive learned about it, came directly from those of you here, thank you, i am very grateful for your input, and patience. im an old man, 44, i was born in Texas, raised in Kentucky, and live in Ohio, played football up until the end of my freshman year in college, was an MP in the United States Army, worked 900 foot in and underground limestone (rock) mine, been married twice, and most importantly, have four beautiful children, one of which, Kameron Lee my youngest son, is 6 today (Happy birthday Kameron Lee!). i guess what im tryin to get at is, although i understand what they are, the little icons, they really dont mean much to "me" personally, other than the aforementioned, but thats just my opinion, and i am not in any way shape or form referring to anyone specifically. me, i come here to learn, i have already had many experiences in life, but none in modding, so im starting a new one. so, why do you come here?

Yes, it's based on posts because there is no better system. I don't want to install some sort of "rating" or "thank you" mod. I hate mods for forum software. Actually I hate PHPBB, but I'm stuck using it because it's free and it is the best free one (don't even try to tell me otherwise!).

Usually the number of posts does show how long a person has been here and how much they know, although people rarely give "wrong" answers in the forum. And even if they do, then the others will disagree and post the right code.

And I come here because I have nothing better to do with my time and bandwidth than run this website.

at first, i came here for knowledge, now, i come here for a little more knowledge and to give back to those who shared their knowledge.

This site has also become a retreat, to a group of people who share the same interests in a way.

And during my time of unemployment, 3 month of hell and boredom, the mods and this site kept me busy and sane.

So i keep coming back, not quite as often now, because my job at the US Depot in Germany keeps me quite occupied, even after work-time.

hmm , take it like a badge. I never really paid attention to them, but ...
they do add a bit of credibility to the statements made , huh ?
