after you gone trow with setting the changes and make the file read only, there can be a new folder in your ducuments and settings folder ( after you started up the game) containing a new video con file, if so you have to change it there to and make than one read only also. this is for Win XP, have no clue if its the same for Wista,Win7. |

I have a different solution for you, find your 1942 shortcut, then where it says "+fullscreen 1" in the target box, change fullscreen to widescreen. |

Nope....the only solution I've found is to play it in windowed mode, but then its really small and you cant expand it. |

I didnt read the whole topic so im sorry if someone answered already. To get it to run in widescreen you'll need to edit a few .cons in your settings folder in Mods/bf1942/ First would be the video default, set your field of view to 1.333 for a 16:9 monitor, and slight higher for a 16:10. Then you'll need to edit a the Video.cons in default and users as this is the only way I've ever had custom resolutions working, i had to edit just about EVERY con concerning video settings to make it work. example: VideoCustom.con rem Optimal setting for CPU > 1400 MHZ game.setGameDisplayMode 1366 768 32 game.setDetailTexture 4 game.setShadows 1 game.setEnvironmentMapping 1 game.setGraphicsQuality 3 game.setLightmaps 1 game.setRenderWhenSpawnMenu 1 game.setMenuViewdistance 100 game.setEffectsQuality 3 game.setPerformance 3 |
