You can set the planes to destroy them selves after x amount of meters / x amount of time from originating spawn location.. which will help to limit the lag that can be caused from large groups.

There are a number of possibilities to reduce the lag if one were to use his imagination.. and yes I bit cranky.. but does not make my post any less valid. :twisted:
