I was messing around with (DC) El Alamein Day 2 CQ's ObjectSpawnTemplates.con file. I did something that I later found out to be a no-no. I coppied a SpawnTemplate from DC_NFZ to El Alamein Day 2. It caused a CTD. I figured out after reading some more that I basically ended up changing the name of or adding a different named ST. I thought no big deal! I changed everything back, still caused a CTD. I restored original copy of map....still CTD. I tried to connect from a different PC and it would CTD. I rebooted server several times thru out process. The catch is, now I can't connect to any DC servers with clients that have tried to connect to my server. I have tried DC and DCF, all CTD. Reg BF maps work just fine. In a nut shell, I have caused a server to fry clients DC mod when they connect. WIERD...... arrrrrgh, what the hell did I do? ****EDIT**** I had to completely reinstall BF1942 and DC. I tried just reinstalling DC but it would still CTD. If anyone wants to try and doesn't mind reinstalling their BF1942 then let me know and I'll put the server back up and you can try! |

if this is DC-F, make sure you don't have any stray _001 files in yer client's level directory. if this is cherry BF, you should only have a _000.rfa and a _003.rfa for el al. if you edit your map files directly, it may be possible that yer el al file is currupt on the client. remember you can't use the server version of el al (since it could be stripped) so the best thing to do is to reinstall BF (or DC-F if your playing with DC-F)... anyways, it shouldn't be possible for the server to screw up a client's map rfa. also, one thing to note is that even if you think you've put everything right, there may still be something wrong. i've done this many a-times... made a change to a map.. it didn't work... remmed out my changes.. STILL didn't work. that's when i just start from scratch again (and also why i now only make small changes at a time.. verify it works.. then make more changes). |
