think about what that would mean, if the server had to send everyone all the dds files, can you say
LAG x 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000?
(for those of you who are curious how big that is its 1.0 x 10 to the 78th power)

If the client already has a specified texture that's been activated by the client's engine (whether it's a BF42, DC, DC-F or map-specific), wouldn't it not lag since the server doesn't have to upload anything?

Then again it's not possible, but just throwing stuff out.

Maybe with the BF engine but when Quake was run big you could download a map off the server and caused no lag for people in game.

thats cause the maps were only a few megs instead of 20 or 30 and the servers would upload really slow
