Post subject: | Ed42 problem (again) |
I was modding on my infantry map yesterday and inadvertently raised the terrain while placing a stone wall. So I click on undo but nothing happens, then quit the program without saving, restart Ed42, and what do I see? An empty map with black texture. I tried reinstalling, but to no avail. This program is such a pain to use! Any advice? |

If you didn't save what did you expect? |

I didn't save because I didn't want to have the raised terrain when I restarted the map. I couldn't remove it using undo... |

Why not just flatten it? Is there not a flattening tool? Or you could have lived with the raised ground and just used it. |

Uhm, you also could just have reimported the original heightmap from the .rfa archive and overwritten the one in your bfdev folder. Voila, problem solved. But as you have not saved, there's not much use for that, you probably have to start from scratch again if you don't have backups. Oh yeah, another advice: Make backups. Always. |

ctrl z sometimes will not work first time.. you need to click a couple of times and the heightmap change will undo... also if it still does nto undo then make another little change to heightmap then undo twice.. then it will work... it just hangs on undo sometimes... also make sure you edit the ed42 init.con and change undo steps to 200 or something high... are you working with the full extracted map? Your ed42 folder should only contain the heightmap, materialmap, staticobjects and conquest folder. use only the basic ed42 init.con in the map.. not a full one from the rfa or BC.. enter your sun, water settings in here. paste in the entre sky/sun settings so you can see the skybox in ed42. |

But I saved before the incident, many times... It's not supposed to do that. What a pos. |
