Europe is the default texture, all those .dds in texture.rfa that aren't in a subfolder. |

Desert is right. During development the plan was to make texture/europe also an alternative, but as development progressed it was decided to stick with 3 texture sets, Pacific, Russia, Europe. For sake of simplicity all "basic" textures became the "Europe" ones. And well, as it happens so often, the map rfa were never cleaned up by anyone (as most rfa weren't ![]() Of course it's just a waste of space, but I think it's funny to stumble upon remarks in .con files, especially when multiple devs used a con file to discuss small aspects and made remarks for the other one and in the end forgot to remove them... ![]() |

The texture set decides what textures the vehicles and soldiers have no their person. Theres one for each theatre of war, Pacific, Europe, and Desert. Ever wonder why the willy's are tan on El Alamein? Well there ya go. |

Yea... I knew how it worked and assumed as much Senshi. I've seen those notes all over objects.rfa, and they can sometimes be helpful. Sometimes I almost think that with the MDT Release planned, they left the remarks in so modders could figure out how to mod the game more easily.... Probably not, but possible. |

Well, there are 2 possibilities. 1) Yes. 2) Nothing would have any texture. |

You safely can scrap that line. That's why this is "alternative" texturepath ![]() If BF fails to find the specified texturepath due to whatever reason, it always tries to call the "default" textures for the objects. |
