New thread on 3DS MAX. So far from my search of the forums, i have not found too many good modelling tutorials. I have a microsoft Simulator bi plane that I am currently working on. It has a gunner. I want to take the gun and separate it from the plane and make it a PCO. However, the meshes on the gun mechanism are connected to other meshes on the plane that are not even related to the gun. Can someone tell me what 3dsmax commands or tools i need to use to separate it so that I can have the gun separate with no plane and then have the plane separate from the gun. Additionally, The textures thankfully are all .dds files. By pulling the gun meshes out I assume i will need to adjust the flattened texture by removing the rest of the plane from the gun also. A little help here would be very nice. But my main issue is separating the gun from the plane and having both stand alone as separate PCOs and models. |

Select all the polys of the gun, then press "detatch" while in editable poly mode. that will split the object into 2, you shouldnt need to touch the uvw's. Thats about all the info you need, if still stuck say so and i'll try to help. |
