Archi made a csm that works on every server you join (without contentcheck) that gives you third person mode and a few other cool things. My question is, would it be possible to have a crosshair reticle on the screen from third person mode? I am talking about an addition to his CSM, not an SSM.

I've tryed to figure out a simple solution for that long and hard, however the only way I could get a crosshair in 3rd Person was to do a bunch of stuff which doesnt work on a mod like you speak. Its just one of those things I can't figure out, or can't possibly do.

How is it? All it does is give you a cool view of the battlefield, it'd be cool to be able to play the game from there.

One way to achieve this with a crosshair.. just an idea.. no attempt at doing it..

Have the camera fixed to chase/3rd person view and at a fixed distance behind/above the player.
Have the weapon projectile fire from the cameras position into the centre of the screen.
Add a physical mesh bound to the camera position which resembles a crosshair. (only visible by the player ond not other players)
The actual weapon effect would still come from the players gun model..

Aside from altering the hardcoded engine, thats as close as I got to a work around. Still pretty messy.. but would be impressed if someone managed it.

Third person... Ain't you aware it's a hack since you can see behind you, behind walls, etc... And what proves that a player won't solely use the mod as a wall/map hack? In other words, that player could switch between 1st and 3rd person views, which is kind of a problem.

Well, I think it's rather pointless to use it as a hack, It's difficult doing what you said, using it so see through walls. I rarely use it, except for when I'm making a vid or something, because for normal play it is useless. And I don't know if you consider this a hack or not but using Archi's patch as a base, I went into that objects.rfa file and converted the k98 and no4 snipers into standard rifles. I never use the sniper rifles, and now I have a regular rifle and grenades. I added the crosshair, removed the scope mesh and made the zoom level/positioning the same. However, the reason I'm telling you all this is that the zoom doesn't work properly. What I mean is, when you zoom, you can't move your rifle around. It sort of moves sluggishly, and after only a few cm of deviation, it snaps back straight. The only way the move the crosshair when zoomed it to move your soldier. Is there a line of code I missed causing it to do this? Any help would be appreciated.
