ok installed the night map made by Tankerbot and works and looks great in single and multiplayer BUT when loaded on the server in coop mode anyone that tries to load in get server is full only allowing one player above that no one can join anyone else have this

Can you post a link on were u downloaded this from please then i can test it later and find out the problem, other than that i cant help atm as im not sure what it is, Oh also How Are You hosting this "Server" Are You Using "BFSM" Or The "BF1942 Dedicated Server Softwear The Comes With The Game" ? This Info Could Help As Well =]

the link is http://www.mediafire.com/?s1umngfngjs the map is off of this forum but this is the link that is in the post and the server is a clan server which has been around for five years and all servers are ran via dedicated server program that is installed with BF1942 the BFSM is just a client side gui that allows for management I do not think the map it has anything to do with the problem I think we are getting flooded with the bf1942 exploit so for now just passworded the server and all is good

Ah yes, it seems your server might have been attacked with a fake player exploit. Changing IP of the server might help. But I know for a fact that there is nothing in my map that would cause this. Has to something with your server or someone doing the fake player exploit to it.

Well basically the program connects to a Battlefield server (BF2/BF2141/BF1942 all have this flaw) many many times over and over filling the player count of the server. The Battlefield Server system doesn't verify any CD-KEY, PB Status, IP, or client version prior to adding the player to the server's player list. Only after it determines that the player shouldn't be on the server that it then disconnects him/her/it.

The attacker program basically connects to the server as many times as it can and it would keep the server full. (since the server can't block players of the same IP) As soon as the server disconnects one of the fake players, another fake player takes it's place. This makes the server always full. The best way to detect this attack is to check the player count prior to connecting. If the player count isn't full, but you still get a server full error, then this program is basically the cause.

Even if the server bans the IP of the attacker program, it still can work, because the server will allow banned players to fill the player list for a short time and that's all the program needs to work.

As for what the program looks like when you use it, its a simple windows console program (it has no GUI). It works with any PC version of Battlefield as all Battlefield servers have this flaw. The only servers that can't be attacked like this are password protected servers. I have never used this app or tried to stop one from attacking, so I am unsure as to how you can detect the person who is doing it. The only way to stop it is to change the IP of the server or password protect it. If the attacker is really determined, he/she would check on the program every now and then and if he/she finds that the IP of the server doesn't work anymore, he/she simply goes into Battlefield and searches for the server again and updates the IP.

Though I am unsure as to why someone would want to attack your server in perticuler.

Unfortunately, there is nothing Punkbuster can do to stop this as this is a flaw in the server/game engine and the engine has to be updated to fix it. No Punkbuster update will stop this.

The only way this can be fixed for good is if EA updates the game/server engine to block this kind of attack. It's possible that EA might fix BF2 or BF2142, but EA doesn't update BF1942 or BFV anymore, so those two games will always have this flaw.

he will need to find out the IP of the attacker and stop it on the computer/server hosting the game server. you should be able to get help with this from your gameservers provider.

Just add the attacker's IP to the firewall running on your server. Their attack program will timeout when attempting to connect/ping the host and it will be like they are not even trying.
