Looks like you will need GMAX or 3DSMax to sort that out unfortunatly. The german helmet has no collision mesh at all, so you will need a modeling program. HOWEVER. I can provide you with one that does have a collision mesh as I do have the needed program to do this with. It will be attached below my post via forums attachment system. I already gave it mat ID 50 for you. Even though I included the RS file, I think you only need to replace the SM file. Hopes this helps. :D

Also, I don't think adding collision mesh to the helmet will stop the bullet from hitting the collision mesh of the soldier's head. I think the collision mesh will need to be enlarged quiet a bit first or something.....

Thanks m8 but I'm talking about a mod (bf1918) and the German helmet is a tat different from the bf1942 ones. :(

I'll give you helmet a try though.

Gee m8. Though I'm pretty good with codes, I know next to nothing about Gmax. I don't know if its too much work but I'd appreciate it if you could make those changes to the helmets in my attachment. There are more helmets in the mod but they are either made of leather or fabric. These are the steel helmets. Also, I understand your concern about the coll. mesh of the helmets being to close to the soldiers head. Maybe you could "widen" it a bit so the bullet gets stopped.

A "widened" collision mesh can quickly result in unwanted bugs, e.g. a shot visually clearly misses the head, but because of the big COL mesh it's counted as a hit and cause damage. Not really the point of helmets to cause a bigger target, isn't it?

I'd do some extensive testing with the "appropiate" COL mesh size first and only if it really doesn't work at all I'd try to enlarge.

Perhaps you get a certain level of propability of "deadly" shots when sometimes the COL mesh doesn't apply and sometimes does. I think that would be an acceptable effect, as a steel helmet is no safety guarantee if the projectile hits a weak spot (or is particular strong or whatever), luck always is a bit of factor there.

That would indeed be the most preferable outcome. That it's always a matter of luck if the bullet "penetrates" or not. I see now that first trying out a normal sized mesh is best.

Having it close enough that you get killed or hurt all the time might be good, as no helmet can keep you from experiencing injuries, i.e. a WWII German helmet shot with a 30-06 has a huge dent in the side = very serious headaches at the least....

On the other hand very unexpectedly:

.45 to a Japanese Helmet = big dent
6mm Nambu to a US Helmet = Clean through.

Something to do with the shape of the bullet (45er being broad and short and the 6mm long and narrow) and the bullet speed (45 going barely over 200m/s and the 6mm reaching nearly 400m/s)
