As you probably already know, all textures and sounds are client side files. This means that it is not posible to change textures or sounds server sided. However, if you are creating a custom map/mod which requires clients to download, then yes, it is possible to change the texture or sounds of any object, vehicle or weapon you like. To change the sound of the No4 Rifle to that of a MG42 machine gun, you would have to create an objects folder within the map directory which points to the sound script of the MG42 machine gun or just copy the contents of the MG42 sounds folder ( \Objects\Stationary_Weapons\MG42_unlimited\Sounds ) and put it into the No4 Rifles's Sounds folder and then you can use the code ; ObjectTemplate.loadSoundScript Sounds/mg42.ssc in the No4 Rifle's objects.con. Yeah, I'm talking Client Side, sorry for not mentioning that earlier. Okay, I had a feeling it would be like textures. I do custom textures in map patches by pointing the TextureManager to the folders I created in my map. I do that in My map's Init.con file. Where would I put my point to the new sound? I know basically what I need to do, but I don't know the specifics. Thanks Volt. =) |
