I was working on my map last night, then called it a day. Went to load BC today, doesn't even start up. Just crashes. Uninstalled/reinstalled, no go.

Anyone have any idea where something might have gotten hosed? I really don't wanna have to reinstall 1942.

I closed it just fine when i quit for the night.

Earlier in the evening i did have to end-process it...but it loaded fine afterwards.

-.- Thanks balls. Anyhow, it seems something gets corrupted along the way. Problem is, I don't know what file.

I've made backups of specific 1942 files, tried putting those in to no avail. Reinstall of 1942 looks like its in my future..

Untill then, I can use my second PC to map. :o

When bc Crashes it could be for numerous reasons:

Problems opening the RFAs from Bf1942, either missing directorys or missing files.

Inproperly written config files

A map that has been exported to a text file but is still in the levels folder as a empty RFA.

A Corrupt Init.con, or Terrain.con in the map trying to be opened.

Usually deleting all custom maps and exporting their Heightmaps, MaterialMaps and staticobjects.con to a folder for safe keeping to be later introduced back into a fresh map is usually the answer.

Uninstalling battlecraft is the simple answer, as battlecraft doesnt delete itself entirely, usually you must finish this process manually.

Other reasons include Graphics problems, overheating, OpenGl Errors, incorrect inputs.

Battlecraft has many reasons for crashing. Usually uninstalling is the answer.

As for Bf1942 Crashes: Bf1942 crashes are most commonly caused by files that are in the directorys that arnt spose to be there. RFA's in the Archives folder that have nothing to do with the archives. Levels folders with more than one level packed into them. Battlecraft sometimes writes a line into your init.con in your Vanilla bf folder that tells it where to run lightmap samples for mods, this too causes problems. One thing you should never do is overwrite server files with client files, as the server files will screw up your game really bad.

I suggest Checking all CFGs in Battlecraft directory for errors. And then check to make sure all RFAs in the BF1942 Mod folders are not corrupt, or have not been extracted to text by the game. Make sure all files are clear by that i mean, Levels in levels, Archives in Archives. No Junk. If all else fails reinstall. To Ensure any map files you may want to save and work on again, use WinRFA to extract the three files i mentioned earlier

StaticObjects.con
Heightmap.raw
Materialmap.raw

and save them, get BC working start a new map, extract it all to the desktop, overwrite it with the saved files, and the pack it back up. And BC will now show the map as it once was.
