Hi Guys, i recently started trying to get online in BF1942 (Specifically Desert Combat) and when i try to join a server, i get a message saying something about the "wrong version, do i want to update?" so i click yes and it takes me back to the server screen again, so i try reloading the same server and the same message comes back. Ive tried updating the list and refreshing and such, and i have also noticed little icons on the left of the server name that look strangely like Xboxes and the Linux Icon. What do they mean? Please Help! Cheers |

for online games u will need: Battlefield 1942 Patch 1.6.19 Battlefield 1942 Patch 1.61b and the latest Punkbuster Updates, available with PBSetup from evenbalance.com in addition to play Desert Combat Desert Combat 0.7 DC Final Client 0.3 Beta |

I have the final editions of BF1942 (So yeah i have the 1.61b patches etc) Punkbuster came with my BF1942 (Which i only bought in December Last year) I have DC 0.7, but the DC final file i dont have. Maybe thats the problem. As to the icons at the side of the name, what do they mean? Ive looked through the manual, through server set up guides and even on the official site but i can find any description. Thanks for the help Dan |

these server icons are also called thumbnails, and indicate the mod. DC 0.7 and DC_Final use the same thumbnail. however, since the final release of Desert Combat came as seperate Mod, you would have to filter for the individual version. However , if u install DC_Final u won't have a problem here is a link |

Thanks for the help guys, i also managed to get the Normal BF1942 servers working, i found out that i didnt have the final patch after all (Shock, Horror, etc.) All standard BF1942 servers work now, but the only problem is my ping rate is extremely high (Probably something to do with the fact i have a wireless 56kbps modem, nothing can be done about it) otherwise im good to go on non-punkbuster servers (PB ones kick high ping rates) Thanks again for all the help Dan |
