One major drawack to gmax though it does not support DDS textures. So what you have to do is make a tga copy, use the tga to set it all up then just before exporting, chnge the path/name of the texture from name.tga to name.dds It also lacks a lot of tools and you have to work a little to use a 3DS tut for Gmax. Now all that being said, its free. Depending on what your doing, Maya makes a PLE (personal learning adition) that is free as well, so if you want to modle in general you do have options for free tools, but for BF2 and I think BF42 you should Max in form as all the plugins are for Max. |
