if you are testing your mods that way then you need to STOP IMMEDIATELY that will not give you the right testing enviroment. you need to run the server with the modded maps(the *_001.rfa maps) and you need to connect from a normal installation of battlefield that doesn't have any of the _001.rfa maps in it. How to simulate the enviroment people connecting to your server will have: 1. copy your whole battlefield 1942 folder and name the folder something like "ssm tester" so you know which folder one is which. 2. delete any _001.rfa files you currently have in your normal battlefield 1942 folder, but leave them in the new ssm tester folder or whatever you named it. 3. make sure you switch the game port to something else besides 14567(14568 will work fine) 4.start a dedicated server from the ssm tester folder i would recomend using the bbo server manager instead of the normal bf1942 server manager but it doesn't really matter. (the mods will work the same either way) 5. join that server using the normal battlefield folder. 6. from now on any mods you make should be ONLY in the ssm tester folder and NOT in the normal battlefield 1942 folder. what this does is provide you with a testing enviroment that is the same as a normal person connecting to your modded server. there are lots of server side mods that will work if you have the 001.rfa in your battlefield folder and the server folder but that will either cause crashes or disconnects for people who try to join that dont have the _001.rfa file. i hope this helps and if you have any questions feel free to post them here. |

Thanks for the info. I haven't seen anything like this posted before and it seems pretty important! Maybe this should be in the "getting started" section? |
