I'm sort of confused as to your goal. Normally one would just edit the existing skins to add art or decals to the aircraft. But if what you seek is to make a large nose art design which covers the whole front of the aircraft without cracks or cuts, you'll need to be doing UVW Mapping, something not really suited for first time users of Gmax or 3ds Max.

Isn't it the same for almost everything? When I started modding I thought I'd never learn to do this stuff. But now I understand almost every part of code ect.

Same for me. I wanted to learn to mod and was such a noob and didn't know anything and a month later I had a server with a heavily modded map rotation.
