Thats The Type of Effects i was talking about
Those arnt True Lighting effects, but instead TRansparent Muzzle Flash type objects that Simulate Light.

Granted Theres is a little brighter than mine is but i did this in like 3 seconds. This when put on all guns and up against walls and other objects gives the illusion that the muzzle flash is giving off lighting.
If i wanted to get more technical i could make the texture more transparent, and brighter, giving an even better illusion. But thinks like this, along with another smaller flash on the tracers gives a nice illusion of real time lighting. Infact putting tracers on most anything is a good idea because it looks like lighting, and a very small glow in the middle of it, can make the game look truly unique. That and Larger Richochets can get bf1942 to be pretty intense even on single player, as you can tell when your getting shot at. Raising the Richochet noise, and even the size of Explosion Dirt can contribute to making 1942 an enjoyable experience.
But To make lighting effects, use the Muzzle Flash idea, so far, thats the only was i know that it works.
On the Wake island night map if they had been a little smarter on the mapping of it, They would not have darkened the areas around the lights, instead lightning the area around them using the Pallettes of otherwise to give an even better illusion of light. Headlight on a car as i see it, would consist of muzzle flash type objects, and a flat transparent plane that extends outwards from the car in 2 different areas in a sort of V shape, and has a slightly glowing texture to it, perhaps even an environment map
