So, you're saying there's a way to make DC choppers flyable? Cause now they just....aren't. I always assumed it was cause the 1942 engine didn't like the physics necessary for helicopters, and DC Devs just scraped by on it. Didn't do a great job either.

Well the reason im familiar with the mh-53 is because i ported it into a POE map i just made.

I have not tried that constantrpm code from bfv in 1942 so dont know if that would work. But the helicopter engine does not exist in 1942 that much i do know.

I believe there is an engine without a networkable file attached to it so you could rem out the plane engine and possibly us that engine (i think its the torpedo that can be added server side without crashing) which seems to be a little more controllable than the plane engine.

If you used that engine you could do as i did in my port which was to rem out all the plane engines the rack everything. Then add in the 4 engines bfv uses (using the torpedo engine) mainengine, tailengine, pitchengine and rollengine becuase you do have yaw and pitch in 1942 and i would think that might be better than using the over powered plane engine.

just food for thought i guess.

You'd have to change one of the Engines into a rocket engine, rotate it so its facing downwards and make it only strong enough to hold it in the air, but not strong enough that the helicopter goes flying away.

There was a thing about having the helicopter placed on sandbags. And give the engines a torque of 0.0001 so the engine will run ect. but it doesnt have enought power to lift itself.

Archi is absolutely right.

I exchanged the torpedo engines for a different bfv engine and the torps work fine.

I wouldnt use the plane engine in 42 to fly a helo.

if you just want it to hang there i guess you could just put some floaters on it, assuming theres a water layer somewhere in the map.

All maps are built on a water layer in vanilla 42, cause they all have at least a little water in them. I assume DC follows suit. You can see it if you fly a turbo plane straight at the ground, and fire the machine guns you will see the bullets splash right before you hit.
