:shock: It's okay urg lol.

While this is kind of an old thread, I've actually been sidetracked lately with other projects. Hopefully I will be done enough on my map to generate shadows in the next few days. I'll post back if I have problems.

Okay, i definitely need help again..

Arg! I did one square on the fastest setting just to see how it would turn out, and this is what I got. It said to merge terrain lightmaps afterwards of the changes wouldn't be visible so i did that.

Yes, I am a mapping noob. All I want to do is generate shadows and keep the surfaces I painted! :(

Using lowest setting will basicly only show you in witch direction shadow will be and how far it will go.
With big ugly dark squares on ground.

Terrain graphic are saved by it self and shadow graphic by it self.
You can lift this files out square by square and handpaint them in Photoshop if you like.
This is also possible to do with shadow files.
They are saved as targa.

When merging, you blend two files and org files will still be untouched.
Without merging you can't see how nice it looks.
Not to worry. Everything looks ok. :)

If you like to look at org files, just delete the newly merged file in it's folder. Tada!

Making shadows are a time consuming thing (BF1942), more computers = more shadows faster. BFV fix it all in one hour and without problem.

When you Generate anything for Terrain in Battlecraft. The Textures the Shadows, or paint with the pallete. All This stuff is saved as a 1024X1024 dds file in the Textures Folder. If you open this texture folder you see the layout of what the terrain looks like. The Game uses these textures and puts them together.

There is no one file that controls Shadows its just basically another texture painted onto the Terrain.
