Why do people still use 1.6? I really don't get that

Is it that unclear that the current version for a game is 1.61 for about 3 or 4 years now? I really think everybody should be able to have noticed that. And there is absolutely no rational reason not to apply the 1.61b patch as its really only a bug, perfomance and stability fix...

Sorry, but if people are too dumb to update...it's not rocket science...

It might be that you get more people on your 1.6 server (because there are not many 1.6 servers, for obvious update reasons...) but what kind of players do you attract? Either all the dumbasses too stupid to update (I really doubt I'd miss them playing on my server) or cheaters running their fancy 1.6 hacks....of course there are hacks for 1.61 too, but at least here security is far better and cheat control systems are being updated. If every 1.6 server would close down it at least would force all the dumbstrucks to check why the hell they can't get on any servers and they might find out that they have to update. If they still are too stupid their mental health seriously should be checked.
And if you run a server nobody wants to play on, try thinking why that might be. Is your server unstable? Bad pings/lags? Not all that great moddings you have to offer? I don't know. If you just want to have your modded maps running on a server, why don't you ask a kind server administrator of an existing, popular server to host some of your maps?

The basic problem is there is worse than 10:1 ratio in servers existing to players avaible, so it's not surprising not every server can be filled.

I left my server in 1.6 because I knew what would happen if I updated it. And I was right. It was plenty popular in 1.6, had a nice set of non-hacking regulars. I moved to 1.61, and not a single person played on it after that. Not even my own clan members.

version 1.6 is the hacking world tbh, everyone hacks, well almost, and people who dont, keeps coming back to get owned, by unfair hackers, it kinda weird

well its like you get some other type of playing when you play 1.6, if everyone hack, its like playing bf1942 with all players shown, then its just who can hit better or get luckiest :O
