Well, I have tried to make the fletcher ship a static object once, and I didn't fully succeed. But basically, I looked at the static U-boat object and the real U-boat vehicle. I noticed that all the static object had was the simple mesh hull, and the texture. Only a few lines of code. So, I stripped down the fletcher, removed all PCO's, engines, floaters and cameras from it, and tested many times to see if it came out right. Unfortunately, it always showed up as a real fletcher. >< I think the main problem was that there were a lot of standardmesh, and I didn't know what the bare minimum could be so it still looked like a fletcher (I was trying to make it looks like it was abandoned, and partially sunk). Plus, I didn't really want to keep testing it over and over again, so I gave up. What I really wanted was the hull, smoke stacks and turrets to be there, but make the boat non-enterable, and for it to have the brownings working, and to have thicker smoke from the stacks. I have the remains of my attempt at modding it, if you'd like to see them.
