So I take it by the lack of responses to this thread that SSM is not possible on an unranked server.

Trust EA to fuck up a good thing.

One thin that was brought to my attention was that BF2 has a sorft of prechace. I seems that you can play with whatever was loaded into a map but not the rest. So if a map has a DPV, you can make all the spawners DPVs, but if the the map lacks a DPV, you cannot add a DPV to it. The same goes for making engines.

I haven't had a lot of time, so I dont know if this is valid, but I would look into it.

I think I did figure out the precache:
its in the collisionmeshes of the objects. As soon as BF detects the collisionmesh is not needed (ie the vehicle wont be spawned) the collisionmesh is removed form memory and the game wont be able to reload it. Atleast, thats what I think. I got a message telling me the collisionmesh of a vehicle wasnt present when I typed object.create in the console (in the debugger that is).
Maybe some command can tell bf2 not to unload resources, but I havent seen it.
