Sorry its taken so long for me to get a post together. The big problem is I'm not exactly sure what is required or how all of the pieces work exactly. And work has been kicking my ass.
Anyhow,
I managed to make this work through a lot of guess work, so along the way I probably ended up doing some steps that did not need to be done in order to get it to work. I got almost all of my information from this little tutorial on how the collision system works.
Anyhow to mod the humvee so it doesn't explode.
First you want to find out what material the humvee is, this happens to be 45, which is the same material for the dpv and other "trasportation" vehicles.
Now your going to want to open up the game.rfa and look in the lightArmor.con under the collision_armor directory.
This is the file that defines how light armor materials interacts with other materials in the BF world.
Basically what I ended up doing was going through the .con file and setting all of the values for the damageMod that material 45 interacted with to 0. I avoided changing the values for how the humvee interacted with other vehicle materials though.
Now this is where I'm not sure which does which.
I also went into the materialManagerSettings.con file and changed the damageMods on all 45 related materials to 0. So I'm not sure if you need to mod both files or only one of the files.
