Streets of Paris (currently infantry only)
http://www.filefront.com/14628337/streets_of_paris.rarI set out on improving my city streets map, but instead redid the whole thing in about 5 days, starting from Thursday of last week. I figure there's got to be at least 30 hours of work in there, since I worked on it Friday for about 10. Anyways, I had to rush to finish it for a battlefield league season coming up.
It's a small/medium sized map, with 1 central 'park' flag, and 2 other cappable bases. Like I said its currently infantry only, but I left ObjectSpawnTemplates.con with some spawners so a patch could be made -- I think this would be a lot of fun with a couple of tanks. I lifted the french houses from forgotten hope, and tried to copy as best I could the road look from Liberation of Caen...I think this is best seen in screenshot #2. I added some ambient gunshot/war sounds, so that kind of gives it a little atmosphere.
Two things that bug me though (ok maybe 3):
The number of FH buildings causes a bit of noticeable lag at times.
I left out a roof texture on one house. Oops. Good thing its only in the corner of the map.
The fog. Doesn't 'feel' right to me.
The biggest beef I have is the noticeable lag. Could there be any way of fixing that, without removing the statics? Cull distances, LOD distances?
