I'm buying a laptop. Budget is $800-900, but I always go over anyway. Once you add in shipping, it just needs to stay below $1k. I don't want to buy from a place like Dell, because I am wasting money on support and stuff.

Would it be advantageous to upgrade to the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Mobile P9700 from the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Mobile T9550?

Also, if you suggest another one, make sure I can remove the operating system. I don't want to pay for Windows XP/Vista/7, when I already own copies on unused computers anyway.

Wouldn't make a whole lot of difference uhm they are both set with 1066 front side bus and both have a 6mb cache so uhm one simply clocked higher and is allitle more powerful but thats why they invented overclocking choice is yours is it worth $180 but you will see some differences in performance

go to my favorite website and combine it with google, you don't even need to buy a OS saves you a couple hundred bucks, just has a partitioned hard-drive.
