I would say they're not doing it correctly. The Constitution says that federal government can do two things, and two things only. They screwed up though by allowing the second one to be twisted. 1) Provide for national defense 2) Provide for the Common Good Now, if your creative about how you present it, the common good can be anything you want. That is the problem with this country, and it has existed for 150 years. Now, I'm sorry to say, but what the government has just done (bailing out companies or swooping in and taking them over) is socialism, plain and simple. A free enterprise democracy is supposed to allow companies to fail, no matter what. |

Wrong Fox, Government Loans and Bailouts is not Socialism. Socialism would have been the Government buying the bank, and distributing funds equally to citizens, no one gets less, no one gets more. Socialism is a far different box of rocks, especially National Socialism, which was what the Soviet Union had up until its collapse, don't get confused between Socialism and Capitalism. |

At the very least it is corporatism, which is a form of socialism. Mussolini did what our gov't is doing just before world war II, and yes that was the entire Italian economy not just a few companies, but this is a step in that direction. Funny how you didn't rebut anything mr. H said...

Because I wasn't involved with that statement, the government may not be doing what I hoped, but too many people are confused and believe that Obama is a socialist, which he is not. |
