@toxicity: Ouch, so many mistakes in just three words
I found English rather easy to learn, but that's probably because I also started really early to read books in English and watch TV series/movies in English. That really helps a lot, though one doesn't notice at all first. But when one has to speak "freehand" and not in class exercises one is much more fluent. Now it's almost of same importance as German for me. International discussions (as here), movies, series, books, quite a bulk of my free time is in English, I guess. But books original in english suffer quality loss during translation, no matter how good the translators may be, so I try to read the English ones whenever possible. Same goes with movie translations (and especially the synch speakers! Most synch speakers are far worse than the originals, only the major stars have really ace synchs in German).
French is very hard to learn in the beginning (that's why it's hated so much, as most people give up in the beginning
), but once one has learned and understood all the rules and exceptions and the exceptions of the exceptions plus all the irregular verbs, it's very easy. Took about 5 years in school to get to that point, but then it was mostly learning new vocabulary.
But I have to admit that after school I forgot much of the French I knew rather quickly, I'm far less fluent now than I was back then...would have to dive in again in all that, but what for
