i use a 27 inch lcd screen for gaming, it takes a while to get the depth perception right.when i first used it i was either firing too short or too long . vehicles looked squat and fat , players didnt change a great deal. the resolution i use is 16x9 widescreen. cant be bothered to change it unless i get pwned big time lol. |

If you disable panel scaling, it will just result in big black stripes left and right, that's all. My monitor has a button to switch between 4:3 and 16:9, but I almost never use it. Kinda kills the purpose of having an awesome monitor if you castrate it like that. Just use full resolution, add the Fov 1.33 line to videodefault.con and you are good to go. Of course it requires a bit of "getting used to", but after that you even can use the advantage of having a HOR+ view comparing to others with 4:3 view. |

the problem with bf42 is the higher resolution the smaller onscreen text, i tried a widescreen monitor in native resolution and i couldnt get used to it. where can i change the ingame font size? |

You can't. Any resolution over 1024x768 makes the text ingame look terrible. It's a pixel based font and not truetype, so it doesn't scale. |

Of all the solutions suggested here, the only way to make BF1942 look normal on widescreen is to play in in windowed mode. It is then scaled correctly, and the text is readable. No stretching or distortion of any kind. |
