I've never gotten anything sensible at putting a critical damage on soldiers. Never noticed anything happening. Like the life drain tanks have when they reach critical?

Yeah, negative critical damage works. When you do enough damage you will still be able to get killed.

Example for the BFV MUTT

ObjectTemplate.active Mutt
ObjectTemplate.criticalDamage 10
ObjectTemplate.hpLostWhileCriticalDamage -10

Mortars only seem like they have no mobile physics because the inertia setting is set to zero. As a result, it doesn't need springs. Hince the fact it doesn't jiggle a bit on the ground like a normal object that has no springs.
