I would imagine you could have 4 engines on the PCO and have each face outwards on each side of the PCO.

Example:

... ^
....|
<_ O _>
....|

You get the idea. Make the side engines use the Roll key setting and the front and back the forward/reverse. Just know the reverse engine has to have negative acceleration and rotated 180 degrees in the opposite direction that the front one is.

You can put a engine on the bottom that thrusts using the space bar. Give it a heatIncrement so it doesn't last long. Not sure how to make it return to normal so you can use it again. :P

As for the springs. Make sure they have the Dummy grip or EngineDummy Grip. Also make sure they can rotate on all three axis. (yes springs can do that!)

Or, you could just have random soldier models and then each person would be disguised as an unanimated object running around.

Yes. Make all the soldier geometries invisible (with the create invisible command preferably., you can probably just add the createInvisible command on the main Soldier object and make the whole soldier invisible. and then just use kits combined with the random geometry code for different objects. I recommend putting the new kitparts on the backpack spine position. It doesn't move around as much.

If you put it on the legs or arms the object will jostle about quite weirdly as the arms/legs it's attached to are invisible. Or addTemplate them to the soldier directly. But they must be the last thing addTemplated. Don't addTemplate it before any of the other stuff or it won't work. (and don't put it in the commonsoldierdata.inc file as it's not loaded last! It must be done to each soldier individually)

you mean skip the spawn menu? i "accidently" got that happen from a ssm mod once, you got to choose kit once when you started playing, then you just respawned without doing anything after you died, you never saw the menu again. but i dont think that would work for what youré after tho.
