you assign matids to the visible (LOD) mesh for textures.. and then use exactly the same principle for the collision (COL) mesh except you matid's are setting the actualy material type of parts of the model |

when you have the model open and have it selected and converted to an editable mesh, select a poly/face and scroll down the editable mesh menu and you should see something about assigning polygon id's. just select a group of polygons then go and put in a number of what you want it to be. then that will be the assigned material in game. |
