Okay, so what I've been thinking about is... Could you change the type of gameplay like Conquest, and CTF and make the flags in conquest appear in randomly selected spots on that map.


For example if I had a map with 4 flags, and I had selected (lets say ) 8 spots for the flags to appear, I would only have 4 flags on teh map at once, but They would be in different spots each time the game loaded. (to an extent).



Does anyone think that this is possible.







In simple terms I want the flags to randomly pick there own places to spawn.

they would have to be a pco so they could be destroyed and spawn in another set position as far as i know and I dont think they could be capable unless you attached a flag somehow

Attaching a control point to a PCO will always result in a CTD at some point in the round. If the PCO with a control point attached dies, crash...if the round restarts....crash.... :(

You can spontaneously create a control point in the middle of the game with no problem (as I have successfully done this in the debugger). But once on the map they can't be destroyed or removed from the game in any way or it would result in a crash.

Sry. to clarify I just want the CP's to spawn in different places at the start of the round Once each.

So It would be like a normal map but the flags are in different spots every time the game loads

Hmm, can't think of a way how to do that. Controlpoint object types are not like regular objectspawners...and it's difficult enough (if not impossible, idk) to make object spawners random. At least I'm not aware of any way BF supports variable placement within a region...
But who knows, perhaps you can emit them using an emitter...as that's apparently a way to spawn projectiles too, which where thought to be unspawnable ;) (Strongly doubt that works).

well, if someone could figure out how to spawn *something* randomly...you could attach the CPs to it? That might not work. :lol:

Don't forget the soldier spawns though. Instead of absolutePositions, you could addtemplate the spawners to the CP (maybe)? The soldier spawns would have to all be outdoors, and the flag area would have to be level ground (or the terrain in CP area would have to be the same from flag to flag). It would kind of be like adding spawn points server side with multiple soldier facings.

I don't think there is a way to spawn anything "randomly" i all has to have pre determined positions :L
