Actually about that roof mat ID thing. The projectile as I recall doesn't actually pass through the roof. It hits the roof and then ceases to exist. That's what happens when a projectile hits a material that isn't defined for it in the damage system. It dies with no associated effect, so it simply "disappears". But it still collides with it. But because it didn't die as it was supposed to, it didn't do splash damage.
