And by "best way," I mean one not using RFA explorer, since that has got to be one of the most unreliable programs I've ever dealt with. It works great ... when it works.

Simply put, I need to look for places where a certain object is used and I'm not going to waste my time opening every single .con file.

What is the best way to do this? Thank you.

Extract it all, go to windows search and search the entire folder for it I guess. As for inside the con files themselves you may have to ctrl + F each yourself. Unless someone knows of a mass-RFA searching program?

If windows search could look inside .con files, it would be fine. Is that possible?

Keep using RFA Explorer...but only to scan and search .rfa-files...The actual extracting and packing should be done by winRFA.

Easiest solution (and works great for me).

It would work great if RFA explorer actually worked for me. It always crashes at startup. If I reinstall it, it usually works once then goes back to its normal behavior.

Edit: Scratch that. Running it in compatibility mode makes it work acceptably. But I'm getting a range-check error when I try to search certain .rfa's. Oh well.

That's the fun part: rfa that were packed by WinRFA and not by command line can't be read by RFA Explorer...
