ive been looking at tanks in bf1942 and i was wondering if there was a way to make the gun barrel go back into the tank rather t hen the entire tank recoil like they did in real life. im not sure were to start i was thinking about attaching the gun to the barrel but not sure how 2 do that.

ive been looking at the code dont see anything about how the barrel only moves unless its free floating.. or just the entire thing is embeded with the ground making it not move

even when the barrel goes back into the tank the tank will recoil a little, just look at any modern tank that does that.

Yup, the recoil concept in BF42 is okay, the problem is the coding of the "wheels". In BF42 Vanilla the tanks are way too light and appear to have super suspensions...Which looks just plain weird (worst: Tiger tank...bounces forever after shooting). In every of the bigger mods this was quickly corrected. Just take a look on the physics.con of the tanks in FH/BG/DC and you will find how things should be.

However, the gun barrel does already "go back into" the tank, but: that's a pure cosmetical matter and defined in the weapons.con with the recoil parameters (force and speed), the actual power of recoil is controlled by fireingforce, also in weapons.con. Would also be an easy way to reduce recoil.

Flaks don't have recoil because they are stationary, obviously. An object without mobile physics has no means of bouncing...

well i think that the supspension completely messed up so i added like 150000 weight to the tank (idk the measurements used) and i lowered the fireing force

edit: adding weight just made it fly when i went off a cliff

Where and how did you add "weight"?

Only adding weight won't do the trick. You need to alter the suspension as well or things won't be good. Most mods achieved best results by adding more "wheels" to the tanks. In BF42 vanilla tanks are - regarding physics - simple 4wheeled cars. And not the kind of car with sports suspension... And yeah, that doesn't go well with tracks and a huge cannon.

im thinking about trying to convert some of the dc suspension into vanilla suspension or just add more 2 each track
