Well, like most here, I am sick of the same old unbalanced maps. I've map a few changes to some that needed and tested them on my test linux dc server. This server runs Fedora Core 1/BF1.6/DC.7n and did full install. Maps work great when I connect to the server and test them out. Next step, I send the completed maps off to our server admin (via email) for placement on our clan servers. Here is where we get a problem. Our server admin places the files I sent him on the servers and PLOP! The map patches are not applied when the map loads. We have two dedicated Linux servers. One is running Fedora Core 1/BF1.6/DC.7n and the other is Fedora Core 2/BF1.6/DC.7n. These servers refuse to work properly. Now I know about the capitalization issue on Linux servers and these files work great on my test box. Has anyone else seen behavior like this before? Thanks in advance.

Me and my friend were playing around with map modding the other night, and he ran into the same problem. To fix it, he modified the main map file itself. That worked for him. Don't know what map it was, but maybe you can try that.

I tried editting the map file directly. Must have made a mistake that time since the server loaded the map but all connected players crashed to desktop. I redid the changes I wanted to a patch instead. At least this way if there is a problem with something I did it doesn't knock everyone out.

well, you've ruled out the caps issue... i assume he's putting them in the right directory? also, does he reload the map once their in place? maybe restarting the bf server might help?

maybe he can give you an 'ls -l' directory listing of his levels directory and you can compare it to your 'ls -l' on the server it does work on.. any discrepencies?
